In Motion Schools

Dr. Roberta Bondar Elementary is "in motion"!

Dr. Roberta Bondar Elementary was officially declared "in motion" at the Fall in motion Kickoff held at Rotary Stadium on October 2, 2006. All students wore orange in motion t-shirts and had a front row view of the stage activity.

The official banner was presented by Minister Hogg from ActNow BC. Also on stage with Minister Hogg were the Honourable Mike De Jong and John van Dongen. Principal Mr. Hardington and several of his students received the banner to great cheers from the crowd.

Then, of course, it was time to get everyone "in motion". The entire crowd participated by dancing and moving to the music. This was followed by the famous in motion Survivor Challenge. Students were thrilled to meet BC Lions stars Geroy Simon and Paul McCallum who participated in the challenge with them.

The students were truly "in motion" as they walked to and from Rotary Stadium instead of taking a bus.... good for you Dr. Roberta Bondar Elementary!

Schools in Abbotsford are declaring themselves in motion!
The following is the vision for in motion schools:

"an in motion school is one that values the benefits of physical activity and ensures that it is a visible priority in the daily life of the school. As an in motion school, there is a commitment to work towards the goal of 30 minutes of physical activity every day for every student (this can be achieved through any combination of physical education, physical activity breaks, physical activity programs, intramurals, special events, etc.)"

The following is a list of schools that are implementing creative initiatives to reach the in motion goal of providing 30 minutes of physical activity for every student every day! These schools value the positive benefits that are achieved through children being physically active.
